Service after 18 months = HW3

After hearing from friends who had gotten their Teslas serviced after a year and had some fuses taken care of, I too decided to give it a try. Got an appointment on the mobile app for the following week. Showed up to the busy service center, only to find that I should have waited another 6 months. Turns out 2 years is when most services are. Before that is tire rotation - his recommendation was to wait 6 months and then replace front tires. Fob battery and wiper replacements can easily wait if not a concern. I asked about HW3 swap and it so turned out that I was on the nice list. Got the spiel about how it would take at least 4 hours to swap everything out and do 2 software upgrades. Best case scenario was late afternoon the next day.

Got $300 in Uber credits at $100/day. But turns out the shitty Uber app just refuses to accept any of my payment card, a long-standing struggle. I gave up and used Lyft, which they have yet to reimburse me. Something for Tesla to learn from Toyota which just calls a Lyft directly instead of dealing with the credits business.

Get home at 5:30pm and get a message at 7pm saying car is ready. Pick it up next day and am loving the object recognition system:

  • multiple traffic lights

  • stop signs

  • construction cones

  • garbage cans

  • diamond, bike and other road signs

  • lane markings, including perpendicular stop line at intersections
